I'm so excited to be finally sharing these images with you! The very lovely Zoe from
Photos by Zoe invited me to 2nd shoot with her at this stunning wedding. As most of you are probably aware I really adore 2nd shooting and try to fit it in as much as I can, it really helps to reignite my love for photography at times when it's busy and pushes me to better myself and enjoy the company of like minded photographers. I particularly love shooting with Zoe, and it was such a pleasure to join her for this gorgeous wedding.
Alex and Esme were married at the beautiful
Seton Collegiate Church in Edinburgh, an
historic scotland property set in a beautiful woodland where Alex and Esme's guests had placed handmade woodland signs guiding them towards the medieval church. The beautiful details continued indoors with stunning yellow floral displays including squash, moss and various woodland inspired foliage. The attention to detail was overwhelming, with personalised felt pockets for the hand warmers, cream blankets in case the guests were cold, beautifully displayed bread sticks and nibbles in jars, everywhere there were stunning yellow ochre and purple accents mixed with cool greys, just gorgeous!
The humanist ceremony was beautiful with some heart felt words from family and friends. Afterwards a rather drizzly drinks reception but smiles all round before heading off in their vintage VW camper van to the restaurant in Leith, Edinburgh. What a restaurant too! Alex and Esme are both lovers of good food so Michelin Star restaurant
The Kitchin run by celebrity chef
Tom Kitchin was an obvious choice for their wedding reception. It wasn't your usual wedding breakfast with 5 incredible courses with various wines designed to compliment the food.
The details continued inside the restaurant with hand folded paper cranes by Esme! echoing the Japanese tradition of
Thousand Origami Cranes, a
wish tree for guest to leave messages, and lovely little photo books of family photos from Alex and Esme growing up, of them as a couple and the gorgeous images Zoe took at their
pre-wedding meetup.
As the toe tapping folk band kicked in (amazing!), guests gathered in the bar for Alex and Esme's first dance as husband and wife, such a beautiful moment :) shortly after Zoe and I sneaked the couple out for some final shots outside the restaurant, and soooo glad we did, the combination of floodlit cobbles and Scottish drizzle made for some pretty special shots dancing in the rain which I LOVE :)
Thank you very much to the lovely Zoe for inviting me along to this beautiful wedding, you can see Zoe's blog post about Alex and Esme's big day
here. Zoe is a very inspiring person and very talented photographer and artist whom I am privileged to call my friend. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful loving, supporting people in my life, thanks Zo!
So without further ado, I present to you the incredible, Alex and Esme.....enjoy :)
