Meet Zoë

Hello! Thank you for stopping my my photography blog.

My name is Zoë, I live in Balfron in Stirlingshire my daughter Nieve.  I adore being a photographer, particularly Wedding and Newborn Photography.  Although based in the Stirling area I'm more than happy to travel and like a good jaunt!

So how would I describe my photography? I always think it's the hardest thing to do, to describe your style, so I asked a few fans what they thought and here's what they came up with...

Delicate, Feminine, Romantic, Refreshingly Honest, Whimsical, Captures Imagination, Personal, Lively.

I guess that's me! I try to reveal personality in my images, to tell a story, to capture a moment and honour it forever. Sounds a little corny, but it's true, memories fade and it's so amazing to have beautiful images to remind you of these special times in your life.

So how did I get here? My love for photography has been an ongoing affair since studying at Duncan of Jordanstone Art College  in Dundee.  I studied Interior and Environmental Design, graduating with BDes(hons) in 2005, we were encouraged to explore the boundaries of the course and I spent a lot of time exploring my love for photography and film.  Since then I've mostly dabbled, fitting my photography around my working life with an array of various photography projects including weddings, portraits, commercial and even a festival!  This all changed in 2010 when my little girl Nieve came along.

Naively, I thought since I was having a baby, it would ensure me the time to develop my photography business whilst on maternity leave, oh how wrong I was! Turns out it's actually quite a lot of hard work during those first 6 months, particularly since my little imp of a daughter didn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time until then! Anyway, I digress. Although we got off to a difficult start once I had a few more hours sleep to look forward to I was more determined than ever.

In short, my photography wouldn't be where I am today without Nieve, this last year in particular has been a whirlwind of exciting opportunities, amazing clients and an utterly fabulous support network of amazing photographers and industry peers.  And all because of one little girl, she motivates me to have confidence in my work and be myself, and despite all the hard work being a mum and running a business, I've never been happier.

So now you know a little more about me, if you'd like to get to know me more check me out on Facebook or Twitter or just send me a good old fashioned email :) I'd love to hear from you.

Lots of love

Zoë x
